Contemporary Artists Exhibit at the Andrews Art Museum

We have several very dynamic exhibits for the month of June.

Our featured artist is Layla Fanucci, she paints city scapes and travels the world to accomplish these linear and colorful paintings. Miss Fanucci has developed her own style and palette. Her art is recognized internationally and the paintings we have on exhibit were sent to us after her very successful exhibit in New York City. Layla is also among the artists that are featured in the June issue of ARTnews magazine along with Diane Leon, John Ferdico, Diann Lewis-Bishop, Areca Whatmore, Karen Deilke and W.F. McCoy. These artists represent many styles from realistic to abstract. They are a unique and diverse group, a must see.

I am pleased to announce that one of the artists Diane Lewis-Bishop will also attend our opening reception this Saturday, June 6, from 5 to 7 pm.

The contemporary artists exhibit is filled with very talented people, all with substantial biographies. These artists have produced some very excellent art. They are Costal Iarca, Pouran Bordes, Ruth Poniarski, Rick Esposito, Patricia Wood, Anita Wexler, Lawrence Baker, Shanye Huang, and Lindsay Jessee.

We are lucky to have a two person exhibit with two of our favorite artists, Anthony Mangicapra and Duane Hosein with their new art exhibit titled "Above and Below". Mangicapra also produces music to view his art by and Hoesin sometimes participates in this musical venture.

This is a traveling exhibit coming from the Box Gallery in Costa Mesa, California and after being at the museum for a month will travel to the Roots Gallery & Cafe in Brooklyn, New York. I understand that Brooklyn is fast establishing its place in the art market.

I am also looking forward to the art of the Andrews High School "Spring Exhibit". Last year was a big success with some very talented student art. We are lucky to have a local songwriter and mus ician to sing and play for us at the opening reception, Lee Tatham.

Please join us this Saturday for good art, music and wonderful homemade goodies. The Andrews Art Museum is located on the mezzanine floor of the Cultural Arts Center at Chestnut & 3rd. A special thanks to the Valley Town Cultural Arts Center and Historic Society for helping to make this exhibit possible.
